Greenhouse Gas Reductions

Tennsco Corporation is committed to decreasing its impact on the planet. Among our environmental protection activities, we have participated in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WasteWise program since year 2000. We took this partnership to the next level by working with WasteWise’s Climate Campaign to document our decrease in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As part of this effort, we educate our employees and the public about the important link between waste and climate change. In 2007, Tennsco Corporation reduced its GHG emissions by 2,042 metric tons of carbon equivalent (MTCE).

To paint a clearer picture of just what this could mean – our 2007 reduction is equivalent to one of the following:

• The annual GHG emissions from 1,372 passenger vehicles
  (Based on CO2 annually emitted per car)
• 312,020 propane cylinders used for home barbeques
  (Based on CO2 emissions per pound of propane)
• The annual emissions from the energy consumption of 661 households
  (Based on annual emissions per household)
• 849,996 gallons of gasoline
  (Based on CO2 emissions per gallon)

The Global Environment & Technology Foundation has determined the real-life equivalency factors (in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development and EPA) used in this Climate Profile. Data are estimated based on the equivalents for 1 MTCE.
